Aman Thakur from “Swtantrta Senani Sadan” Village Kot Chhadlu,Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh has recently joined the Birmingham law school at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom to do a PhD in law. His research relates to the field of International human rights law and specifically to disability law and policy. All expenses for this four-year PhD programme are funded by the Government of India, the amount of which will be more than Rs 1.5 crores.
The University of Birmingham stands among the top 100 Universities in the World. Earlier, Aman Thakur did his LL.M in Public International law with a specialization in Human rights from the University of Oslo, Norway. He wrote his master’s thesis on Disability rights and will further advance the state of the field during his PhD. Previously, Aman Thakur has also worked as an Assistant professor of law and visiting faculty at prestigious Universities in India.
Aman said only a few students got selected from across the world for this PhD program as it is highly competitive. Aman Thakur gave credit to his parents mother Nirmla Thakur father Dr. Ravinder Kumar Thakur Rtd.( DSP) and other family members for this achievement as they have constantly supported him throughout his journey.
